We had 273 church members register votes of affirmation during the morning [in paper form and the online form via the QR code] and I am pleased to share the following results, in which all nominations were elected by overwhelming majorities.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 10.30am: Sunday 21 January

Our AGM will be held as part of our 10.30am in person services (both Balerno & Livingston). 

Over the past year, the teaching topics we’ve covered as a church have challenged and encouraged us to think more broadly about our faith and walk with God.  We’ve looked at generosity; the words of Jesus on the cross; what it means to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and then to live by

Vestry recently approved the following year end gifts totalling £18,400 from the World Mission Fund, in light of having additional funds available for distribution at the end of this financial year.

As we continue to support our mission partners financially, with around 15% of our giving providing support to organisations both in the UK and around the globe, over the last 12 months we have also provided a space to increase prayer for the work of mission.

St Mungo’s values missionary work both home and abroad, with 15-20% of our income going to the work of mercy and evangelism.

In a year that has seen a rise in the cost of living and inflation, the continued humbling generosity of the Church has meant that St Mungo’s has again been able to be a blessing in the area of mission both in the UK and around the world as mission partners and projects continue to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

We are just a few weeks away from Isaac Knight joining the staff at St Mungo’s in his role as Associate Rector. Isaac & Ruth will be moving to Livingston in July and we hope to see them around before Isaac officially starts on Monday 8 August. In the meantime, they have sent the following short message.

In August 2021 we launched the “Mungos Merch” site selling hoodies and t-shirts with the St Mungo’s vision image from the Church vision to “Be Love”. And of course for all the Mighty Mungo’s fans, hoodies and t-shirts with the Mighty Mungo’s logo (still available).

Comfort International are so grateful for all the financial and prayer support over the last year and have sent St Mungo’s a letter of thanks here from Callum Henderson and a video thank you from the Comfort team.

We have been so blessed by the generosity of the Church over the last year which has enabled St Mungo’s to continue our vision of being a missional church, making an impact in both mission and mercy, across the UK and around the world. Our support has clearly played an important role, particularly in the last year, where

After 30+ years being part of St Mungo’s Church, we said farewell to Colin & Lesley Penny last month. As part of our Balerno service at Heriot Watt University, Lesley was presented with a couple of gifts by the Rector’s Warden [photos of the gifts below] in recognition of all that both Colin & Lesley have sown into St Mungo’s.

Back in June, we responded to an emergency appeal from Comfort International to give support to Comfort Congo after the city of Goma was hit by a volcanic eruption in May. We were able to respond immediately with a donation of £5,000 which has made a lasting difference.

Since August 2020, we have been giving a gift of £1,000 to Hayat Ministries in support of Life Center Church in Beirut, every quarter. This is to support the work of Pastor Said Deeb, following the devastating explosion in the Port of Beirut last August.
